Bruce F. Singer is an internationally recognized psychologist who specializes in the management of chronic pain, chronic illness, and substance use disorders through the use of mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). He created and directed the Chronic Pain Recovery Center at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, CT and has trained clinicians around the country in his wellness-focused approach to helping people change their relationship to their chronic conditions by shifting their attention from suffering to living lives of meaning and purpose. Because Bruce is a person with chronic conditions, he wanted his book, Black Duck Moments Every Day ( which is based on his original metaphor for making a shift in perspective), to speak directly to those individuals and their families who struggle with their own chronic conditions. It is a daily reader filled with reflections and affirmations that reinforce the importance of acceptance, compassion, connection, joy, resilience, and gratitude in our lives. As part of his mission to help others, he administers a Facebook group for people with chronic conditions called Black Duck Moments for Recovery. When not helping his clients or supervising new clinicians, Bruce produces meditative music albums under his name that can be found on Amazon Music and other streaming sites.
