Di Tran: From Mud Huts to the Pinnacle of the American Dream

Di Tran’s life is a living testament to faith, discipline, and the extraordinary possibilities of the American dream. Born in a humble mud hut in rural Vietnam, Tran grew up watching his father wear the same pair of pants for years—a quiet symbol of sacrifice, simplicity, and resilience. Those early experiences shaped Tran’s foundational belief: that greatness is built not from wealth or circumstance, but from effort, gratitude, and adding value to others.

In 1995, Tran immigrated to the United States with his family, arriving with no English, no resources, and no clear roadmap—only a conviction that America was the land where hard work and faith could transform a life. He immersed himself in learning through reading, writing, and communicating with anyone willing to teach him. That hunger for knowledge eventually led him to earn both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Louisville. He later pursued PhD studies in IT Management at Sullivan University, achieving ABD status.

Tran’s early professional years were spent in software engineering, information technology, and workforce development. During this time, he began informally mentoring others—licensed nail technicians, aspiring entrepreneurs, new immigrants, IT professionals, and young people searching for direction. Over the years, this evolved into a lifelong passion: helping individuals rise through education, discipline, and humanization. To date, Tran has mentored hundreds of licensed beauty professionals, software developers, real estate investors, and small-business owners, shaping careers across multiple industries.

In 2016, he founded Louisville Beauty Academy (LBA), which has since grown into Kentucky’s #1 beauty licensing workforce accelerator, producing nearly 2,000 licensed graduates and generating tens of millions in annual economic activity for the state. The Academy is widely known for its compassion-driven model of affordability, flexible scheduling, walk-in accessibility, and transparent digital compliance, including biometric timekeeping and fully published student contracts. LBA is now celebrated statewide and nationally, earning recognition such as U.S. Chamber CO—100 Top Small Businesses (2025) and NSBA Advocate of the Year Finalist (2025).

Tran expanded his educational mission with the creation of Di Tran University, home to the College of Humanization™—centered on ethics, compassion, and personal development—and the College of AI & Automation, which prepares students for the rapidly evolving digital workforce. His work in human-centered education culminated in America’s Ethical Workforce Academy™, developed under the New American Business Association Inc. (NABA), promoting immigrant empowerment, ethical professionalism, employer-employee harmony, and AI-enabled learning.

Beyond education, Tran is an entrepreneur at heart. He founded Di Tran Bourbon, introducing the BELIEF™ bourbon line—a tribute to gratitude, faith, and the immigrant spirit. He collaborates with organizations such as Harbor House of Louisville on workforce, healthcare, and housing initiatives, while also exploring affordable housing models, modular construction partnerships, and EB-5 community investment opportunities. He maintains active involvement with civic organizations including the Rotary Club of Louisville and the Louisville Independent Business Alliance.

Despite English being his second language, Tran has become an astonishingly productive author. Through daily writing, reflection, and the support of both digital and human editors, he has published over 130 books, covering personal development, discipline, ethics, leadership, immigration, community empowerment, beauty education, technology, humanization, and workforce reform. Each book is grounded in Tran’s lived experience and reflects his core belief that knowledge is meant to be shared—and that writing is an act of service.

His advocacy work extends into public policy. Tran was an influential voice supporting Senate Bill 14, which strengthened fairness, transparency, and minority representation within the Kentucky State Board of Cosmetology. He has also run for both the Kentucky State Senate and Louisville Metro Council, championing immigrant voices, workforce modernization, and inclusive community leadership.

Tran lives in Louisville, Kentucky, with his wife Vy Truong, a pharmacist and partner in many ventures, and their three sons—Jayden, Skylar, and Dylan—each deeply involved in academic excellence, athletics, music, and community service. Family, faith, and gratitude remain at the center of all his work. Tran openly credits every blessing and accomplishment to God, affirming that his purpose is simply to remain a vessel for service.

Through his writing, teaching, advocacy, and entrepreneurship, Di Tran embodies the calling to “add value, humanize, and uplift.” His life is a reminder that no beginning is too small, no barrier too high, and no dream out of reach when rooted in faith and relentless effort. In every book he writes, Tran shares not just knowledge—but a pathway for others to build meaningful, ethical, and empowered lives of their own.
