Katie Baron is the author of Archer the Therapy Dog, a Read Together Book and the Archer the Therapy Dog Mysteries series, beginning with The Crayon Caper. She lives in rural Sussex County, New Jersey, with her husband Joe, Archer the Therapy Dog, and Geordi, a therapy dog in training.
Katie is a passionate advocate for the benefits of therapy dogs and for greater awareness of the public access rights of different types of working dogs. Her first book, Archer the Therapy Dog, a Read Together Book, is a nonfiction title in a distinctive Read Together format for children and the adults reading with them. It combines Archer’s real-life experiences with references to research studies to help readers better understand the impact of therapy dogs.
Through the Archer the Therapy Dog Mysteries series, Katie continues this mission in an engaging and fun way for young readers, using storytelling to build understanding, empathy, and awareness. She also provides Educator Resources on her website to help teachers and parents extend learning and discussion beyond the page.
Katie is available for school and library visits, where she reads from her books and teaches students about therapy dogs and the role working dogs play in our communities. She is also the creator of Archer 101, a program she is bringing to her local school for grades 5–8, focused on working dogs, dog communication and body language, and practical dog safety skills.
