Ken Alston

Ken is recognized as the trusted authority on sustainable business growth. His career includes twenty years working in a global multinational fast-moving consumer goods company where he pioneered the development of corporate sustainability goals, actions, and reporting. As Director of Sustainable Product Innovation, Worldwide, he was one of the first people to include the word ‘sustainable’ in his executive business title.

Ken was senior consultant, and chief of staff to William McDonough co-author of the book, Cradle to Cradle - Remaking the Way We Make Things, with Dr. Michael Braungart. He was CEO of their Consulting firm McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry.

Ken managed the startup of two influential NGOs. The Green Blue Institute, its flagship program, the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, and the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, and its product certification program.

Ken now works independently and collaboratively on the implementation of sustainable business growth with companies globally. He speaks at conferences, trade associations, universities, and in leading companies on sustainable business growth.
