Markes E. Johnson

Markes E. Johnson is the Charles L. MacMillan Professor of Natural Science, Emeritus, at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts. He studied geology at the University of Iowa (BA 1971) and University of Chicago (PhD 1977). Fieldwork has taken him to Scandinavia, Britain, Canada, Mexico (Baja California peninsula), Asia (South Korea, China, Vietnam), and Australia as well as to the Cape Verde, Canary, Madeira, Azores, and Galapagos islands. Ongoing work looks at the intersection of geography, paleogeography, ecology, and paleoecology in the context of climate change.
