Cara Miskolczi

An author and illustrator, Cara Miskolczi, is a cancer survivor, wife, and the mother of two energetic young boys. She received her bachelor’s degree from St Mary’s College of Maryland, majoring in Economics with a minor in Asian Studies. Cara was successfully balancing her career and family when she was abruptly sidelined by a devastating breast cancer diagnosis midway through her second pregnancy. During an extensive treatment regimen, while simultaneously caring for a newborn and her seven-year-old son, the ingredients for her first book, The Recipe Records, were imagined based on bedtime stories Cara created for her oldest son. She is happy to now have the opportunity to share her stories with children and families around the world.

In addition to creating stories, Cara taught herself to play the violin, both as a source of enjoyment and as a form of physical therapy. She enjoys cooking, baking and crafting decorative confectionary creations, as well as reading, anime, gaming and most importantly, spending precious time with her family.
