M.D. Halvorson, Karin

Dr. Karin Halvorson earned her medical degree from the University of Hawai'i. She completed a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Subsequently she attended Brown University for her Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship. While at Brown she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and earned the 2014 Fellow Teaching Award. She thereafter took an Academic Position at Tulane University, as the Medical Director of Critical Care, where she split her time between the MICU and the ED. She was also the Director of the Pulmonary Lab at the Veteran Affairs Hospital of New Orleans. She received accolades at Tulane University as Teaching Attending of the Year and Critical Care Physician of the Year in various years. Since this time Dr. Halvorson has taken the position of Chief of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at the Southern Arizona Veteran Health Care System. She has a Faculty Appointment at the University of Arizona. She is an active member of Chest and remains highly invested in medical education.
