Dawn Hurwitz

Born with a fierce sense of independence and curiosity in Chicago, Dawn commenced on a journey at sixteen to discover a Good Cult, The Source Family commune in LA California. They traveled to Hawaii and she remained with them for five years. She returned to Chicago in 1979 and spent a decade as a clothing and costume designer while rubbing elbows with people in the music industry. A forthcoming book will recount those adventures in the 80s.

After several times heartbroken, she was pulled back to Hawaii where she conjured up a metaphysical bookstore and cafe called “huna ohana” in Pahoa on The Big Island. In the early 2000s, another curiosity beckoned, this time transforming into an Apple Tech.

Now retired and sharing a home named Avoland with her husband Stephen and their beloved cats. In 2017 she and author Adam Sydney began The Puna Writers Workshops, inspiring her to finally scribble down all of her "Wild" adventures.

She can be found on Facebook, Instagram, and Linked In and her website is www.dawnhurwitz.com
