I am an award-winning artist and decided to publish many of my paintings in book form because my paintings have a story and I want to tell that story and share it with you. The story begins with the effects of the hardships of war on my mother and the consequential physical effects on her pregnancy and child, me.
“My Life” collects together paintings with a brief story of how each painting conveys the feelings and emotions at that time. There is despair in some paintings and joy in others.
Life Through the Windows continues the narrative with life events of the exploration of fractals, sailing, travel, and university. The final chapter is an allegory of life as windows that open and close.
I was born in Korea and studied in France, Germany, Korea, and the USA. This variety of cultures allows me to incorporate a wide range of ideas into my painting and writing.
I hold a B.F.A in Interior Architecture from the Parsons School of Design and a Major in German literature and language from Ewha Woman’s University Seoul. I worked as an Interior Architect in New York City. I further studied at the Art Student League New York, and L’Academie Charpentier in Paris France. I now paint full-time from my Studios in New York City, Puerto Rico, and Italy.
My work celebrates the love of mathematics and nature in the context of cultural differences and abstraction. “It is a magical moment to create the natural look” from inanimate materials. My art is a clear reflection of the intercultural influences provided by international studies and travel.
