Eric A Ewald

Eric Andrew Ewald was born in Burlington, Vermont but grew up in Bethesda, Maryland and then Southern Pines, North Carolina. Later, he attended Appalachian State University in Boone, NC (BS Physics) and Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama (Bachelor of Civil Engineering). Eric is now retired and lives in Cary, NC.

Nitro's story is about his life beginning when Eric adopted him in late 2009. Eric then became a full-time pet sitter in Cary, North Carolina from 2009 through 2020. Nitro was a once and a lifetime dog and his tales include humorous narratives about dog park adventures and heartfelt moments as he and Eric navigated life together.

Eric has been writing as a hobby for some time and after surmounting an inordinate number of myths about small business management and administering frequently asked questions (FAQs) about dogs and dog parks, it was time to share the particulars. Eric's Pet Sitting operated as a single member LLC and did not grow beyond that. This is not a “six figure pet sitter” story since that wasn’t the vision Eric had for his enterprise. He was, however, successful in terms of client trust, satisfaction, and demand. Finally achieving a positive work/life balance became a first for him, which completely belied the grounding of a 20-year stint as an environmental engineer.
