Lisa M. Hess

Lisa M Hess is a facilitator, scholar-poet, professor of practical theology at United Theological Seminary (OH), clergywoman and trained spiritual director. She holds space for both traditional and non-traditional communities toward the transformation of self and community. Her work invites the archetype of Circle wherever it is welcome: interreligious and intercultural (re)learning, contemplative practices in community, and deepening exploration of mysteries. In addition to her PhD in Practical Theology from Princeton Seminary, she is a trained circle-way leader with Women Writing for (a) Change (www.womenwriting.org) amongst other multiple open-space lineages of practice. She was an invited TedX speaker for the Salon on Women held in Dayton February 29, 2020, “Scarred, Scared, Sacred.” She is also an avid CrossFitter and companion to partner Brian and their heart-dog Nala.
