I’m a normal, regular person (whatever “normal” means). I’m not a guru, a thyroid wizard or a “proper doctor” but I am a geek. A bit of a nerd. I’m a thyroid patient, an autoimmune “Graves’ disease” overactive patient who no longer has a thyroid and is now technically, physiologically, underactive.
It also happens to be that I am a naturopathic nutritional therapist. I ran a successful clinic for patients with thyroid disorders, gave regular talks, created thyroid conferences, talked on radio shows, podcasts and wrote for magazines and became known in the UK as “The Thyroid Expert”.
In my previous work lives I was a holistic massage therapist, event manager, exec assistant in the publishing sector and lecturer for the College of Naturopathic Medicine. Right now I’m a full-time biomedical student, about to embark on a placement year in the labs (thank you Infection Sciences team, can’t wait!!).
Anything I write has been inspired by my many lovely clients and students (apart from the novel I'm currently flirting with which is a twisty, dark, thriller about a psychopath!).
