Allan Berkowitz received his BA from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and his rabbinic ordination from the Jewish
Theological Seminary. He holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Columbia University Teachers College.
Allan has focused his career on executive management in the nonprofit sector, including 17 years as the executive
director of an award-winning San Francisco bay area environmental
education nonprofit and most recently in community organizing in pursuit of social justice and equity.
Allan is the author of the newly published, The Psalms: A Guide for the Heart and Soul (Epigraph Books).
He is the co-author of Embracing the Covenant: Converts to Judaism Talk about Why & How (Jewish Lights Publishing).
With a talent for making traditional texts come alive, his Torah study classes are highly popular.
Allan lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
