Candy Dahl

Candy Dahl, a former teacher/librarian, received her MFA degree in Writing for Children and Young Adults from the Vermont College of Fine Arts.

In October 2023, Little Bee Books will release Candy’s first picture book biography, TINY JUMPER: HOW TINY BROADWICK CREATED THE PARACHUTE RIP CORD. This thrilling biography reveals how Tiny’s determination, courage, adventurousness, and joy in doing what she loved made it possible for her to become the first woman to parachute from an airplane. These strong-girl characteristics lifted Tiny up to stand tall as a pioneer in flight.

Candy loves discovering little known historical people and events and using them to launch picture books and novels. Her middle grade novel EMMA AND THE CIVIL WARRIOR was one of three finalists for the Children's Book of the Year of the Southeastern Booksellers Association and for the Juvenile Fiction Book of the Independent Publishers Association.

Candy lives in Raleigh, North Carolina, with her husband David and their Aussie-doodle Rocky - who is a mess and a joy to be around!
