Neil McCallum

Neil’s novels have been published (under his pen name Dawood Ali McCallum) in India, Italy and the UK. His articles have appeared in journals around the world. For the past 25 years he has worked in courts, police stations and prisons in some of the world’s most fragile states, including Ethiopia, Nigeria and Somalia. In December 2018 he worked in Sierra Leone on the establishment of a specialised Anti-Corruption Court. He draws heavily on these experiences in his writing, as well as on extensive research in India and the UK.

Themes common to all his writing are what it means to belong, where is home and how far should one compromise one’s principles to do what one believes is right?
