J.P. van Rossum

J.P. (Joris) van Rossum studied biology and obtained his PhD in philosophy at the VU University in Amsterdam. In this PhD thesis, he formulated a new argument against the materialistic explanation of living beings through Darwin's theory of natural selection. Joris has immersed himself in Arthur Schopenhauer’s philosophy — and how it relates to modern scientific and philosophical insights — for more than 25 years, resulting in several publications, both academic articles and (Dutch) books. Van Rossum's other influences include Aldous Huxley, Arthur Koestler, and Eastern and Western mysticism.
