Robert M. Kershner M.D.

Robert M. Kershner, M.D., M.S., F.A.C.S. is an internationally recognized eye physician and surgeon, award winning educator, dynamic presenter, and industry consultant. Dr. Kershner is known for his excitement, energy, and the passion he brings to caring for patients and teaching physicians and students in more than 22 countries on 7 continents. As a widely published medical journalist with more than 200 scientific articles and 37 textbooks to his name, Dr. Kershner leverages more than three decades of ophthalmic, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical device experience, to inspire his audience to think differently, while encouraging them to explore new ideas and innovative approaches to their health. Dr. Kershner graduated with an A.B. with distinction in Molecular Biology from Boston University, where he also was inducted into the Academy  of Distinguished Alumni of the College of Arts and Sciences; received his Master of Science in Cell Biology and Biochemistry, and Doctor of Medicine degrees with honors at the Robert Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont; completed his Internship in General Surgery, and specialty surgical training in Ophthalmology at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center in Tucson and the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City. In addition to having performed more than 32,000 microsurgical eye procedures, and providing ophthalmic care to thousands of patients, he found the time to create and serve as chairman and lead professor, of the nation’s top Ophthalmic Medical Technology program at Palm Beach State College. Featured on television, radio, print, and online, Dr. Kershner has appeared in USA Today, Men’s Health, Ladies Home Journal, Boston Globe Magazine, The Palm Beach Post, and Newsweek, and is best known as having performed eye surgery live on television on CNN with the first implantable bifocal intraocular lens, and the Implantable Miniature Telescope on ABC’s Evening News Tonight with Peter Jennings. Dr. Kershner was the author of Lessons from the Practice-The Gift of Sight, which was published in 1994. The release of this, his second book, Seeing for Life-Clear Vision to Age 88 and Beyond, is written for a general audience.
