I almost accidentally became a professional photographer and journalist straight out of school in 1978, and throughout my entire career, which has included technology, marketing, consultancy and management roles, I have continued to write, photograph and have my work published in New Zealand and throughout the World. Like any good photographer, still contributing to newspapers and magazines, I look to capture iconic images — the kind that need no caption. Like any good journalist I am fascinated by stories, and I have attempted to make my subjects relatable, from my first 320-page book "Machines That Count," to later work I have done on local histories, and artist profiles. For everything there is context, and by understanding that context we can properly understand what is currently happening, and understand possible implications for our future.
