Chris Pike grew up in Connecticut. He graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1988 and served as an active duty officer for 24 years, leading Airmen in a variety of missions and programs, primarily transportation and logistics. He retired in 2012 at the rank of colonel after 13 assignments to 9 states and 3 foreign countries, as well as short-term deployments to the Gulf War (1991) and Iraq (2006). He commanded two Air Force squadrons and he spent 2009-2010 at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, serving as commander of the 455th Expeditionary Mission Support Group.
In addition to a BS from the Air Force Academy, Chris holds 4 masters degrees, including the Air Command and Staff College and National War College. He is an avid reader and traveler, with a lifelong passion for history. Leading to Win is the first of what he hopes will be several publications. Chris has been happily married to his wife Libby for over 25 years. They are proud parents of a daughter and a son, both of whom are full-time college students. The Pikes live in The Woodlands, Texas.
