Alison Prowle

Alison grew up in the Welsh valleys, where she still lives, with her husband Malcolm, her 2 daughters, a very lively cockapoo called Tansy, and over a hundred houseplants. She loves the mountains, the sea, vegan food and all kinds of artistic pursuits. Most of all, she enjoys spending time with people from all walks of lives, and hearing their stories and ideas.

Alison began her career as a primary school teacher where she first witnessed the effects of multiple disadvantage on outcomes for children. This sparked a passion for early intervention with families and young children, working within schools, children’s centres, the voluntary sector and local government. Since 2012, Alison has been teaching, researching, and writing in the area of adverse childhood experiences, integrated working, parenting, and supporting families at the University of Worcester. She pursued a PhD study on supporting refugee families after spending some time volunteering in the humanitarian camps of North France. Her writing focuses on supporting the children and families workforce to deliver high quality opportunities for children and families and, in doing so, contribute to positive outcomes.
