Mrs Sue Steer BA Hon

Sue Steer: Author of three children’s books for ages 2-8, Person-Centred Counsellor, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist.

Growing up with undiagnosed ADHD, Sue understands the challenges children face in navigating big emotions and developing self-acceptance. Her books focus on nurturing emotional awareness, compassion, and self-confidence—qualities she lacked in childhood and is now passionate about fostering in others.

Each story Sue writes is inspired by her experiences as a counsellor, where she has witnessed the transformative power of emotional understanding. Collaborating with illustrator Alice Strange, whose vibrant artwork brings her words to life, Sue creates engaging stories that empower children to embrace their unique selves and confidently navigate complex feelings.

As a counsellor, Sue also works with adults who struggled to articulate their emotions as children, reinforcing her belief in the importance of early emotional literacy. Her books offer valuable, entertaining lessons in emotional resilience, making them essential reads for parents, teachers, and anyone supporting children’s growth.

Sue is dedicated to helping families and educators build open, joyful conversations around feelings. Her stories—and the resources she shares—are tools for creating meaningful, empowering dialogues that help children thrive.
