Bob Makransky

Bob Makransky is a systems analyst, programmer, and professional astrologer. For the past 48 years he has lived on a farm in Guatemala where he studied Mayan shamanism and astrology with his teacher, don Abel Yat, until don Abel’s death in 2009. Bob first became interested in magic at Micky Russo’s Spiritualist church in San Francisco in the 60’s, and he began studying astrology in 1970.

Magic can be defined as “the intentional manipulation of luck by means of the deliberate cultivation of intuition”. Most people believe that luck and intuition are haphazard affairs; but magicians seek to control them by 1) obtaining volitional control over their moment-to-moment attention (thoughts and moods); and 2) learning to relax into their karma (going with the flow) instead of fighting against it, or wasting their intent with idle daydreams and fantasies.

Instead of relying upon their society and other people for support and guidance, magicians rely upon spirits (at least until they have their own intuition and intent working). The practice of magic will become more and more necessary as our unsustainable society collapses in the coming century, to provide people with the inner strength and hope to endure.
