Dr. Sean Siebert

Dr. Sean Siebert’s breadth of knowledge and experience, combined with his story-telling ability, make him a much-sought-after speaker, panelist, educator, and consultant. His messages resonate with audiences, leaving them both motivated and committed to embrace a future of endless possibilities. Currently, Siebert serves as the founder of the strategic management firm Invent Yourself, LLC. Dr. Siebert’s cross-collaborative work has been funded by numerous organizations including the Delta Regional Authority (DRA), the United States Department of Justice (DOJ), the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the National Institutes for Health (NIH), the Kauffman Foundation, the Georgia-Pacific Foundation, and other agencies. Additionally, Siebert serves as a contracted subject-matter-expert (SME) for the Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR). Siebert also serves on the Executive Board for Missouri Enterprise (NIST/MEP), he's the Vice-Chairman for the Crawford County Enhanced Enterprise Zone, and he is a Board Member for the County Law Enforcement Restitution Fund Board, and the BJC - Missouri Baptist Hospital Patient Care Committee.

Dr. Siebert’s reputation for creative thinking and delivering innovative results is renowned. Fortune 500 corporations, small entrepreneurs, music legends, non-profit organizations and institutions, secondary and higher education institutions, state and federal economic development agencies, tribal nations, and regional planning commissions, have sought Siebert’s creative guidance to deliver effective solutions with award-winning results. His work, in the industries of education, workforce development, entrepreneurship, and economic development, continues to be recognized all across the United States and around the world. In April 2018, Dr. Siebert was honored by the Missouri Association of School Administrators with the prestigious Friend of Education Award for his work with school districts all-across the State of Missouri. In October 2018, Dr. Siebert was the recipient of the National Association of Development Organizations Innovation Award, for his work that helps communities, and individuals, to combat mental health, poverty, addiction, and the opioid crisis. Siebert has also been honored as the Entrepreneur of the Year and Citizen of the Year by the Cuba Area Chamber of Commerce.

In 2012, Dr. Siebert was charged with the task of making Columbia, Mo., the “Youth Entrepreneur” capital of the United States. Through this effort Siebert created the #BOOM Event, the largest entrepreneurship summit in the State with an attendance of over six hundred individuals. Siebert also created the #BOOM Entrepreneur Pitch Competition; this event became the largest competition in the State, and one of the largest in the United States with thirty-six participants competing. Siebert also created the Ideas and Innovation Summit, which became the largest youth innovation summit in the State of Missouri. Siebert’s work was recognized by the Missouri Department of Economic Development as he was a featured keynote speaker at the Governor’s Conference on Economic Development in 2015, 2016, and 2018.

Previously, Siebert joined the Columbia College Faculty in August 2009. While at Columbia College, Siebert served on several committees to help strengthen the institution’s strategic position. In April 2010, Siebert was awarded the honor of Faculty Member of the Year. Siebert was the first faculty member in the 160-year history of the College to be awarded this honor their first year with the institution. In September 2011, Siebert was awarded the Exclamation Award for Excellence from the Fortune 500 Company, Big Lots Inc. In the corporation’s history, only two individuals outside of the organization have received this honor.

Prior to Columbia College, Siebert was employed by William Woods University and served as Executive Vice-President and Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies. While at William Woods University Siebert led the University to achieve record enrollments in the Graduate & Adult programs, helping the University to maintain a strong financial position. Under his leadership, William Woods University established the largest Athletic/Activities Administration program in the nation, the largest Master of Education and Specialist of Education programs in Missouri and received recognition from Ingram’s Business Magazine for having a top five rated M.B.A. program.

Siebert also had a lengthy tenure with the University of Missouri. While working for the University of Missouri, Sean served as Human Resource Manager for the Department of Internal Medicine and as Manager of Business and Financial Operations for the Department of Pediatrics. During his tenure at MU, Siebert helped recruit more than 100 new faculty members to the School of Medicine. Further, Siebert played an intricate role in a turning a million-dollar operating deficit into a million-dollar operating surplus for the Department of Pediatrics in a 24-month period.

Siebert holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri, a Master’s degree from William Woods University, and a Doctorate degree from Webster University.

Siebert has made research contributions in several areas of business and management. He has given many lectures and presentations regarding management theory and has been published in numerous publications including The Huffington Post, UP Global, The Wall Street Journal Online, and the Missouri Department of Economic Development. Additionally, Siebert authors his own weekly publication, The Weekly Win.
