Douglas G Cameron lives in Houston Texas where he is a professor at a community college. As a young man fresh out of college, Cameron experimented with hallucinogens which landed him in a mental ward where he was administered electroshock against his will. He writes about his experiences in How To Survive Being Committed To a Mental Hospital. Following a long period of recovery--not from mental illness--but from shock, during which time Cameron had to totally re-educate himself, Cameron became interested in shock machines. For twenty years, Cameron organized legislative assaults against “ECT,” finally succeeding in eliminating forced shock in Texas. But this was only the beginning. Publishing a ground-breaking article in 1994 entitled "ECT: Sham Statistics, the Myth of Convulsive Therapy and the Case for Consumer Misinformation," Cameron was the first to identify modern day "ECT" devices as becoming more instead of less powerful as manufacturers alleged. Writing and researching for over thirty years, The Great Electro Convulsive Therapy Hoax, Volume I and II, is the product of Cameron's long investigative struggle into the secrets of "ECT" manufacturers and their machines. The results are jaw-dropping. Cameron holds a BA from SMU, a master’s from University of Texas in Austin, and a second master’s’ from University of Houston at Clear Lake.
