“Mommy when I grow up, I wanna be a business broker!” Never has any child uttered those words as they walked by the local broker’s office, pressed their face up against the window, and dreamed of taking their first listing.

I’ve been an entrepreneur since I was 12: I proudly sold fish to pet stores that I bred in my bedroom. Since then, my entrepreneurial spirit led me to resell computer accessories, sell merchandise at a retail popup, and open an RV related retail/service store, which I expanded to 3 locations before it was acquired by a fortune 500 company.

In 1997, I was on the hunt to buy a business, and was taken aback by the state of the profession. The brokers I met lacked professionalism and transparency, consistently provided inaccurate information and utilized no technology. I walked away from each experience feeling like I had narrowly escaped death-by-sleazy-used-car-salesman. I realized that I was more fascinated with how businesses function and more interested in analyzing financials than actually purchasing a business. I knew I could serve clients better and execute at a higher level. The rest, as they say, is history.

700+ transactions later I can say if it’s out there, I’ve probably sold one; I’ve helped thousands of people buy and sell businesses and commercial property and related consulting. I continue helping clients today. There is no better feeling than when you have the answer that helps your client. It’s why for 27+ years, every time I say, “I’m just going to the office for a few minutes.”, my wife looks me squarely in the face, rolls her eyes, and says “Yes dear”.

When I get a moment in the off hours where I’m not helping my two adult children, wife or the extended family, I like to swim, hike, play pickleball and basketball or simply watch the sunset from my patio. You can also catch me at the local animal shelter, making sure there are enough blankets to keep all those dogs looking for a forever home warm.
