David M. Reed is an anthropological archaeologist with expertise in stable isotope biogeochemistry, mortuary analyses, archaeology of the Maya, human genetics, and quantitative analysis. He conducted pioneering research in ancient mitochondrial DNA after completing his doctoral work on paleodiets of the ancient Copan Maya, Honduras at The Pennsylvania State University. He has also been a summer fellow in Pre-Columbian Studies at Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection, Washington, DC, and a visiting scholar at the Center for Archaeological Investigations at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. Currently, he works as a consulting biostatistician, conducting research in the field of ophthalmology on the biology and genetics of eye diseases.
