Following a 30-year career in school administration and teaching, I founded Saylor Financial Fundamentals, making stock market investing accessible for novice investors. I am also the Head of School at Solterra Way Cottage School, providing educational assessments and academic support to private students.
Most of my professional career was spent in public education in North Carolina. I understand the importance of meeting my students and readers where they are, and helping them grow their knowledge and understanding.
I have a BA in Spanish and Education from UNC-Chapel Hill and an MA in Linguistics from Gallaudet University. I hold teaching certifications in multiple fields from the State of NC, The American Montessori Society and The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
I raised two Deaf children adopted as preschoolers, as well as a home-grown son and a stepson. I am conversant in Spanish and fluent in American Sign Language. I am committed to lifelong learning, challenging my own biases, and making financial education and literacy accessible to everyone, particularly members of communities that have historically faced barriers to financial literacy.
