Hello, and thank you for taking the time to get to know a bit more about me.
I write my books from my home on the coast in a beautiful part of the North West of England, looking out onto the Irish Sea. I live with my husband, a springer spaniel, and enjoy regular visits from my children and grandchildren. It's a busy house!
I recently retired from my position as a Professor of Nursing at Chester University. Health and social issues, especially those concerning children and young people have been at the heart of my work professionally and feature prominently in my writing.
I was privileged to work in health care in Nairobi, Kenya from 2002 onwards for many years, work for which I received an OBE for Nursing. This was one of the richest experiences of my life and I maintain links with the staff I worked with, who have become my extended family. A small group has kindly formed to become my Kenyan critical reader panel.
My debut novel Taken for Dead is my love letter to Kenya. I hope to raise some small funds from any book profits for the excellent charity Missing Child Kenya which works to support and repatriate missing children with their families. I am planning a sequel novel where Helena brushes up against the most malevolent of forces. Watch this space...
