Ruth Caro Mack is a storyteller, teacher, and passionate Christian who lives in New York City. She is proud both to have been born in the Dominican Republic and to have been raised in the city in which she now lives and has grown to love. Her values center around her family and her faith, as do the stories that she puts out into the world.

“So, in everything, do unto others what you would have them do to you.” —Matthew 7:12

This Bible verse serves as a mantra for Ruth’s lifestyle and purpose in life. Through her books, she aims to connect with children, educate and inspire them to follow a path of kindness and compassion toward others and themselves.

To this day, Ruth is still developing her English language skills. Having moved to the USA at age six, she struggled to learn English a little later in childhood. She never thought writing books would be in her future, but here she is, living that dream! The reason she is still an educator (in large part to ELL students who struggle with the language), is to show people that they are not alone and that anything can happen if you put your mind to it.

Ruth is strong and confident. Through her life experiences as an educator and a model, she has become, as she describes: radiant, unique, teachable, and humble . . . or RUTH for short!

Writing is something that Ruth found relatively recently. After graduating from college, throughout the depths of the pandemic, and with so much uncertainty in the world, she felt quite lost, without direction. Her passion for writing came in the form of one of her coping techniques, recommended by her brother after she confided in him her difficulties. He said, “In moments in which I was lost and faced the different challenges I went through after college, I found comfort and peace through journaling my thoughts and experiences. The process of journaling helped me see my growth, journey, and overall accomplishments.”

From that time on, Ruth began journaling, which opened her eyes to the magic of putting pen to paper (or, to be more modern, finger to keyboard). One night, after realizing that she hadn’t written much recently, a flood of ideas for children’s books popped into her head. And so, her journey as a children’s author began!

She is very family oriented and loves to spend time watching movies, playing games, cooking, and going on vacation with them. Indeed, it is her family and their values that inspire her and much of her work. Her stories are also influenced by her dedication to her faith and the lessons that she holds dear throughout her life.

As a writer, she aims to bring awareness to the young community. She hopes that her writing will not only speak to them but also challenge them. Literature supports both the development of their values and their critical thinking skills.
