James is a self-confessed 3D printing geek whose 3D printed products have been exhibited around the world at venues including the Red Dot Design Museum (Germany) and BOZAR Centre for Fine Arts (Belgium). His research into the technology has received international awards like the Dick Aubin Distinguished Paper Award at RAPID, North America’s largest annual 3D printing conference and expo. Hi is an author of the book '3D Printing for Product Designers: Innovative Strategies using Additive Manufacturing.'
Professionally, James has been a lecturer and researcher at 3 Australian universities, an architect, a product designer, and now a biomedical designer at the Herston Biofabrication Institute, an advanced manufacturing and research facility based within one of Australia’s largest hospital and health systems - Metro North Health. He also holds an adjunct position at The University of Queensland and is an Assistant Editor of the Computer-Aided Design and Applications journal.
