Carly Johnson

Carly Johnson (she/they) is an NYC-based queer author. With a background in art direction and animation, they have always been passionate about creating meaningful work that leaves a lasting impact.

Her first poetry collection, Pear, launched in 2023. Pear celebrates the beauty of queer love through a heartwarming compilation of poetry written for and about Carly’s girlfriend, Maya, who she met on a summer vacation in Australia. They fell in love thousands of miles from home and share their love story with the world in Pear.

Despite now living in NYC, Carly grew up in Texas. As a lesbian who grew up in a small, conservative town, she is no stranger to the significance of safe spaces for LGBTQIA+ people. Through their poetry, they hope to reach and inspire queer people of all ages with a promise,

“I hope you find a safe space between these pages and know, there is a world for you.”
