Deirdre Mullen Heck had a happy childhood living in the countryside of North Central Pennsylvania with her parents and four siblings. She was raised with the joy of rainbow alerts and the encouragement to literally “stop and smell the roses.” Deirdre and her husband Jim raised her own now-grown boys in Chelmsford, MA, where she encouraged them to stomp in mud puddles, dig holes to the center of the earth, and remember that nothing is more important than taking a moment to just breathe. A firm believer that it’s never too late to have a happy childhood, Deirdre also embraces the idea that childlike wonder and joy can last a lifetime. Deirdre spends her spare time reading, crocheting, gardening, walking in nature, and engaging in random acts of whimsy.
