A.H. Martin

Andy H Martin has been writing short stories for the past eight years and has recently finished his first novel.

He was born in the south of England. His love of travel began at the tender age of six when his father took up a post as chief engineer at an industrial diamond mine Ghana. As a teenager he spent several summers traveling across Europe.

Andy trained as a Radiographer at St George’s Hospital, London, qualifying in 1977. He worked in various hospitals in England and the Middle East for the following 22 years. His last clinical position was as Head Radiographer at a major international Cardiovascular hospital in Saudi Arabia.

Andy and his family then moved to the Netherlands in 1999. Spending the next 20 years working for Philips Healthcare as a senior clinical application specialist.

His roles included designing and developing new interventional Cardiovascular imaging systems for Philips and devising the training procedures for hospital staff and application specialists. He traveled extensively, supporting the introduction of these new systems into the different regions of the world. Training clinicians, staff and the local application specialists, and troubleshooting IQ issues.

It was on these long trips that Andy rekindled his interest in writing. His first short story was written on a two-week trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina

In 2019, he retired after 40 years involved in differing aspects of medical X-Ray imaging.

Andy is now enjoying his retirement, indulging his love of writing and photography. He lives on a 64 ft replica Dutch Barge and cruises the rivers and canals of western Europe. Currently, the boat is moored on the Canal lateral a la Garonne, in Aquitaine.

A.H. Martin’s debut novel, Living Proof, the first in a trilogy of crime thrillers, was released in 2023.
