Alexis Takvorian

Alexis Takvorian is a native of Thessaloniki, Greece, who currently lives in Austin, Texas. He started learning German at the age of four and has been fascinated by foreign languages ever since. He now speaks five of them, in addition to his native Greek, and has dabbled in a few more.

While a student in Karlsruhe, Germany, he started teaching Greek at the local community college to make some extra money and he found the experience very rewarding. After moving to Austin for graduate school, he continued teaching Greek for many years at the Informal Classes program of the University of Texas. For over thirty-five years, he has also freelanced as a Greek translator and interpreter, and he is a member of the American Translators Association.

In real life, he is a supply chain executive who loves math and data. However, what he loves the most is travel – he will hop on a plane, train, boat, car or whatever, anytime he can, so that he can travel the world and get to experience the beauty of different people, places, cultures, and languages!
