Elizabeth Duncanson

Liz Gillem Duncanson is a Licensed Physical Therapist, C-IAYT Certified Yoga Therapist, Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher, Retired Athletic Trainer, and Retired Strength and Conditioning Specialist. She has over 30 years of experience in Sports Medicine and over 20 years of practice in Physical Therapy and Orthopedics. She is the owner of Body Temple Physical Therapy and Yoga in Oakland, California and Body Temple Online, an international yoga therapy education provider.

Liz developed a keen eye for efficient movement through her involvement in music and dance. Reinforced in high school and college through formal studies in Sports Medicine and Athletic Training, she brought these skilled lenses to physical therapy school and honed them further with elective studies in Osteopathic Manual Manipulation and Strength and Conditioning in graduate school. She discovered yoga in an unlikely setting: the fitness gym while refining the art of procrastination before an important exam. Her first in-person class seemed ordinary at the time, but the subtle shift was transformative. The yogic philosophies and breathing techniques became a secret to her success. While working as a licensed physical therapist in the out-patient orthopedic setting, she found these skills incredibly useful and empowering in her own healing and her clients. She wants to share these skills beyond her private practice and wrote the book Cultivating A Sustainable Core, to share these evidence-based secrets with you.
