Iris transplanted to Kansas in 1970 to attend the University of Kansas. She’s put down roots in the fertile Kaw River bottom soil of North Lawrence, Kansas. After 40 years of serving on the faculty of Washburn University in Topeka, she is now enjoying writing poetry and tall tales about Kansas. Recently published is her book titled Do Lizards Have Lips? And Other Tall Tales from Toronto, Kansas. (IceCube Press, 2023). Her poetry collection titled Between the Tracks and the River ~ Life in North Lawrence, Kansas is in press.
