Vanessa Thompson

Vanessa Thompson is a poet whose love for writing children’s stories stems from being a mother and caring for and educating young children, including those with neurological impairments and developmental disabilities.

Max is inspired by a young boy Vanessa worked with many years ago, but the stories told through Max are based on raising her own child with Inattentive ADHD. Vanessa has an associate degree in liberal arts and a bachelor’s degree in social work.

Vanessa hopes her Max series is not only a fun, educational read for young children, but also encourages parents raising children with impairments and disabilities to exhibit the same levels of patience, understanding, and love Max’s mother does.
