Peter Hill earned a living as a TV and radio correspondent for the BBC at Westminster, but this book is about his adventures as a Russian interpreter. He learned Russian to interpreter standard during his national service in the Royal Navy, and he has visited Russia many times either in the navy, (as a Reserve officer) as a student, as a tourist, or as an assistant to businessmen. It has taken him to Moscow, St Petersburg, Tbilisi, Grozny, Hong Kong and Hanoi. He writes amusingly as he looks back on the scrapes he got into and the slightly dodgy situations at sea and on land from which he and those he worked for escaped.. .
