Bridget D. Arend

About

Bridget Arend is Associate Director of Teaching and Learning at MSU Denver. She consults with faculty members and institutions about teaching and learning issues, speaks and facilitates workshops for faculty, conducts educational research projects and organizes teaching-related initiatives. Bridget facilitates professional development courses about college teaching through Intentional College Teaching and spent 12 years supporting faculty development in the Office of Teaching and Learning at the University of Denver (DU), most recently serving as the Executive Director.

She teaches courses related to teaching, training, learning organizations, educational assessment and curriculum design at DU. She received her PhD in Higher Education and Adult Learning and her research interests include teaching strategies, encouraging critical thinking in discussions, the role of reflection in learning and alternative ways to evaluate teaching. She is co-author of a comprehensive book about instructional practices in higher education, Facilitating Seven Ways of Learning: A Resource for More Purposeful, Effective and Enjoyable College Teaching.
