Mary Richards

Mary Richards, MS, C-IAYT, E-RYT500, YACEP, began practicing yoga in 1992, and teaching in 2002. Her teaching and practice are informed by her deep, abiding interest in and study of anatomy and kinesiology. Mary has completed credited coursework with labs in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and biology. Additionally, she holds a master of science in yoga therapy from Maryland University of Integrative Health. She has also completed observation hours at physical therapy facilities specializing in orthopedics and sports medicine. Mary is passionate about sharing her experience in yoga therapeutics and other healing modalities to help others cope with—and ideally, prevent—injury to the joint segments of the body, especially the weight-bearing joints of the lower extremities.

Mary teaches online and in-person workshops. She has presented case studies at research symposia regarding yoga therapeutics, published articles in Yoga Journal, and appeared on podcasts. When she’s not at home or on the mat somewhere, she can be found hugging trees and worshipping dirt at her family’s simple yet serviceable cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Rockbridge County, Virginia.
