Jack Howell

Jack Howell has a lifelong interest in engineering history. He retired in 2010 after a career that spanned seven years with NASA and over forty years in teaching mechanical engineering at the University of Houston and The University of Texas at Austin. He is a member of the US National Academy of Engineers, the Russian Academy of Science, and is an Honorary Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He published widely in the technical literature while working. Since retirement, he has become a bit more whimsicle, publishing books on technical history, travel ideas for those with technical interests, some poetry, some photography, an ABC book for those with a weird sense of humor, and even a science fiction story.
