Luke Anthony Duffy

Luke A Duffy was born to Irish parents living in London way back in the 1970’s. Before his first birthday he moved to Ireland, where he experimented with eating caterpillars and insects, only to quickly discover he preferred steak. Being the Son of a serious martial artist, Luke began training in Kung Fu, boxing, grappling arts at an early age, and underwent the psychological conditioning such a practitioner requires. After telling his Father he wanted to be a writer, Luke was informed he needed to go out and live life first: ‘otherwise, what do you have to write about?’ His Dad made a good point.

Many years later, after experiencing the joys and pains of life (having worked as a clown in a circus, taught Kung Fu in martial arts schools, scared the ‘excitement’ out of paying customers visiting Madame Tussauds, sang in a rock band, attended university, travelled abroad, lived, loved, and lost) he was brought to a standstill, quite literally, by a car crash. A very nasty experience. However, one must find the good in the bad, and with this in mind, Luke took the opportunity to embrace a new direction, to become the writer he always wanted to be. After attaining an MA degree in creative writing from the University of Lincoln, graduating with distinction in 2020, Luke settled down at his keyboard and started writing.

Oh, and he is rather fond of dogs, which is just as well, as he lives with a pack of them. ‘The Book of Lugh: Paddy and the Mothers of Darkness, part one, the Mysteries of Granny Nyhan’ is Luke’s debut novel, and the first in a two part series. Currently, Luke is writing for the band, VT POET and the DOGS of WAR, working on part two of, ‘The Book of Lugh’, taking long walks in the countryside with his pack, and occasionally challenging his Wooden Man to a fight. So far, he has yet to win. Kung Fu really is hard work.
