Bryan Beaunoyer was 12 years old when he created Sir Gilderlilly and the magical kingdom of Wendtmurhoefen... but it was a much different story back then.
It was 1992. It was a school assignment. The character was originally named Sir Buckethead. It was a very generic "clumsy knight slays dragon, saves princess" type story.
For the next thirty years, Bryan kept coming back to that knight and his story. He rewrote it over and over as life changed around him, each version more detailed than the last, and adding new characters as he went along. In April 2023, he finally put it all down: the misenchanted knight, the unconventional unicorn, and the forgotten kingdom of Wendtmurhoefen with its colorful cast of characters. The story and world he had been building since elementary school was now a reality.
He is a kid-at-heart living in Columbia, Missouri with his wife, his cats Fiz and Ralphie, and about thirty more years of stories still left to tell.
Book Two of the Wendtmurhoefen series, The Fourth Magic, is available now. Book Three is in progress.
