Dr. James A. Cannon

Dr. James A Cannon (b.1933 - d.2020) attended Fordham University, majored in journalism and was managing editor of the Fordham Ram school newspaper. He switched majors to physics earning a masters degree from Columbia and a B.S. and Ph.D. from Fordham. Dr. Cannon worked as a researcher at Bell Labs, but he had the heart of a teacher and pursued a career of forty+ years as a revered professor of physics and chemistry at Pace University in Pleasantville, New York. A neurological injury led to his retirement. He suffered for a dozen years until complications from Parkinson’s disease and Covid took his life. During his retirement Dr. Cannon worked diligently on Finding the Light: Science and its Vision, which is a testament to his life’s work, his Catholic faith, his love of science and his love of teaching.
