Gaelen McCormick

Gaelen McCormick is a double bassist, educator, arts administrator, and hearing access advocate. After more than 20 years on stage as a professional classical double bassist with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, deafness and pitch distortion made it necessary to pivot her career away from performance. By leaning into string pedagogy and now arts in medicine administration, she continues to create positive impact on her community and to enable others to find their authentic voice as teachers and performers in all types of settings. When faced with obstacles, she finds it most helpful to replace "but" with "and".... and solutions seem to appear. She lives in upstate New York with her teenage offspring and one lovable, mouse-hunting kitty.
