John Mosteller

Meet John Mosteller, a talented artist who has made a name for himself in the vibrant Austin art and culture scene since the late 1980s. Originally not from Texas, John moved there as soon as he could to pursue his passion for art and sharing his life experiences through various genres of art. This desire eventually led him to create Hairless Ape Design, where he showcases his works across various mediums.

John's art has been displayed at popular Austin spots such as Amy's Ice Cream, Lovejoys, and Kerby Lane Cafe. He has also collaborated with local bands to create unique promotional materials for their shows, as well as providing his design talents to local businesses through the development of custom logos and websites.

Inspired by his diverse experiences in Texas, from serving in the Army at Fort Hood to working on Sonar Arrays at the University of Texas at Austin and troubleshooting computers at Dell Inc., John draws inspiration from every aspect of his life. He even designed Blackjack and Poker layouts for casinos on the West Coast as the lead designer at Higgins Enterprise.

In 2006, John decided to expand his creative pursuits and turned his artwork into a line of designer pillows and signature home pieces. With Hairless Ape Design's new projects, John aims to continue sharing his love of art with others and push the boundaries of design in the 21st century.

Aside from his work as an artist and designer, John is also an elementary school technology teacher. He enjoys creating and designing storybooks and coloring books for children, teens, and adults. Through his work and creativity, John hopes to inspire others to pursue their passions and express themselves through art.
