Dean has been a dedicated hiker and backpacker since he was a teenager growing up in Vermont. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoys being in nature as much as possible. He completed a through-hike of The Long Trail in Vermont in 1992 as one of his first “big adventures”. Since then, Dean has been fortunate enough to hike in the Austrian and Italian Alps, French and Spanish Pyrenees, and the Italian Dolomites in Europe as well as many of our National Parks here in the US, including The Grand Canyon, Smoky National Park, and Yosemite just to name a few.
Through Dean’s passion for the mountains, he got his children (Alexis and Matthew) involved with the sport. Together they spent countless hours hiking and camping in the backcountry. Both of Dean’s children have completed the Adirondack hiking challenge of hiking all 46 Adirondack mountains that are above 4,000 feet.
Dean met his fiancé Heather, while hiking on Mount Abraham, their local Vermont mountain. Two years later, he proposed on that very mountain, where they will marry at the top with close friends and family by their side. For their honeymoon they plan on through-hiking the iconic John Muir Trail. They reside in Bristol, Vermont where they spend countless hours planning new adventures and enjoying each day as it comes.
Dean currently works at Middlebury College as their Energy & Technology Manager. He is thrilled to be able to use his skills to help reduce energy consumption, which has been a dream of his for as long as he can remember and something he feels can make a real difference.
