Short Bio 3-5 sentences
Qing Zhuang (pronounced “ching juong”) has always wanted to be an artist of one kind or another. Born in Fuzhou City, China, Qing moved to New York City when she was seven years old. Like many immigrants and children of immigrants, Qing tried very hard to fit in and embody both cultures. However, the world of books and art is where Qing totally and naturally feels like herself. "How Long is Forever?" (Charlesbridge 2020) is her first illustration project. “Rainbow Shopping” (Holiday House 2023) is her first writer-illustrator project. BookPage magazine calls it “ sweet, fun and spunky…a beautiful, touching portrait of a family’s love for one another” in a starred review. The Horn Book review says it “beautifully reflects how it feels to relocate to a completely different country and still try to feel at home”.
Qing still resides with her husband and daughter in New York City, where she is also an elementary and middle school art teacher!
