Zhao Lihong

Zhao Lihong (b. 1952) is a celebrated award-winning Chinese poet, essayist, and author of children's literature. Born in Shanghai, Lihong has lived and written in Shanghai, and now serves many positions including as president of Shanghai International Poetry Festival, editor-in-chief of Poet Magazine.

Throughout his long, prosperous career, Zhao Lihong has written more than 90 books in the form of poetry, essay, and fiction. He has won dozens of literary awards, both at home and abroad. His numerous best-selling novels, such as The River of Childhood, Fisherman Boy, A Street Dog Named Black Wood, and The Child of Tree became instant contemporary children’s classics, winning the hearts of countless readers, and selling millions of copies worldwide.

Lihong's work has been translated into more than 10 languages and has received worldwide recognition. In 2013, he was awarded the Golden Key International Poetry Award in Smederevo, Serbia. In 2014, he won the Outstanding Contribution Award of Shanghai Literature and Art; and in 2019, he was awarded the Romanian “Mihai Eminescu International Poetry Award.”
