Miguel de Asúa

I am a historian of science and medicine living in Buenos. I held a senior research position at the National Research Council for Science and Technology (Argentina) and a teaching position as a Professor of the history of science and medicine at the University of San Martín. Although retired, I still teach some philosophy at the Catholic University of Argentina and on the history of science and religion at Universidad Austral. I am my M.D. from the University of de Buenos Aires) and completed a residency in Clinical Pediatrics at Hospital de Niños (Buenos Aires). I obtained an S.T.L. from Universidad Católica Argentina, an M.A. (History and Philosophy of Science) and Ph.D. on History from the University of Notre Dame. I am a former Guggenheim Fellow, a life member at St. Edmund’s College (Cambridge) and Clare Hall (Cambridge), and a full member of the Academia Nacional de la Historia (Arg.) and Academia Nacional de Ciencias de Buenos Aires. I have been visiting fellow at Harvard, Yale and Boston College. My present work focuses on the historical relationships between science, religion in countries with a French model of secularisation. However, I continue to research the history of science in Argentina, mostly from the early nineteenth century), and on Jesuit missionary science.
